About This Outfitter

What River Rush Is Actually About

Most rafting companies are running as many boats as possible. River Rush is doing the opposite on purpose.

Markie and Mike founded River Rush because they saw a gap in how the industry operates. High volume outfitters dominate the rivers, and the guides who actually make these experiences happen are often the last ones considered. River Rush flipped that. Smaller trip sizes, fair pay for guides, and a focus on quality over quantity are not marketing language for them. It is the whole point of the business.

What that means for you on the water is real. You are not one of fifty people cycling through a conveyor belt operation. Your guide is not burned out and running their ninth trip of the day. Clear Creek is also not a casual river. It is fast, technical, and at peak flows it is some of the most intense commercially run whitewater in the country. Having a crew that takes the guide side of this seriously is not just a nice story. On a river like this, it matters.

Why Book With Them

Small groups by design

River Rush intentionally limits group sizes so your guide is focused on your trip, not managing a crowd.

Guides who actually want to be there

Fair pay and a guide-first culture means the people on the water with you are there because they love it, not just working a summer job.

30 minutes from Denver

Located right in Idaho Springs off I-70. One of the closest legitimate whitewater experiences to the Front Range.

One of the steepest runs in the country

When the advanced trip is running, River Rush puts you on a section with two 8-foot waterfalls and continuous drops that experienced guides still get a rush from.

The River

Rafting Clear Creek

Clear Creek runs right through Idaho Springs, a historic gold rush town tucked into the canyon along I-70. It is fast, technical, and one of the most exciting rivers per mile in Colorado. Don’t let the proximity to Denver fool you. This is not a lazy float.

Water is highest and most powerful in June and July as snowmelt comes off the Rockies. May and August tend to offer friendlier conditions for beginners, while peak flows push the intermediate and advanced runs into serious territory. At high water, Clear Creek is as intense as anything commercially run in the state.
